Albanian President Alfred Moisiu has dismissed his country's ambassador to the United States amid reports of corruption.
Albanian news media reports say the scandal involved allegations of an illegal payment from a businessman to Ambassador Fatos Tarifa.
Ambassador Tarifa has served in Washington since 2001. He previously was Albania's ambassador to the Netherlands.
