Bhutto Hopes to Return to Pakistan After Restoration of Democracy

Pakistan's self-exiled former prime minister Benazir Bhutto says she hopes to go back to her country "after the return of democracy."

Ms. Bhutto spoke as she arrived in India's western city of Jaipur with her husband to offer prayers at a Muslim shrine. They also visit Ajmer Sharif.

She said she recently held a fruitful meeting in Saudi Arabia with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on restoring democracy in Pakistan and she expressed hope the process will be speeded up.

However, she ruled out any agitation against General Musharraf, who took power in a bloodless coup in 1999. In the "present international scenario," she said, her party is not thinking "in those terms."

Ms. Bhutto governed Pakistan twice between 1988 and 1996. Currently she lives in Dubai as she seeks to avoid corruption charges in her home country.
