Spanish Officials Confirm Surgeon Flew to Cuba to Treat Castro

Spanish officials have confirmed that a leading Spanish surgeon has flown to Cuba to examine Cuba's ailing President Fidel Castro.

Jose Luis Garcia Sabrido's trip was first reported yesterday by the Spanish newspaper El Periodico.

Spanish officials Monday, confirmed the doctor is in Havana to determine if the longtime Cuban leader needs another operation.

President Castro is still recovering from intestinal surgery he underwent in July.

At that time, he turned power over to his brother Raul and has not appeared in public since.

Cuban officials have denied Castro has cancer and have released photos and videos of him.

But the director of U.S. national intelligence, John Negroponte, recently said Fidel Castro is very ill and could die within months.
