Colin Montgomerie Leads Dunhill Links Golf Championship


Scotland's Colin Montgomerie has a one-stroke lead over England's Kenneth Ferrie after the second round of the Dunhill Links Golf Championship in Scotland.

Montgomerie fired a seven under par 65 on the Old Course at Saint Andrews to move to nine under par 135 for the tournament. Ferrie shot a four under par 68 on the Carnoustie course, and is eight under par 136.

Sweden's Pierre Fulke is tied for third with Ricardo Gonzalez of Argentina at seven under par 137. Fulke shot a six under par 66 on the Saint Andrews Course, while Gonzalez had a four under par 68 on the Carnoustie course.

The event is being played on three courses - Saint Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns. The field is composed of 168 teams of one professional and one amateur, who contest the first three rounds over a different course each day.

After 54 holes, the field reduces to the leading 60 professionals and ties plus the 20 leading teams, all of whom play the final round over the Old Course at St. Andrews. The winner takes home nearly $795,000.
