A media watchdog group urged Ecuador's government Friday to investigate the murders of two journalists this past week.
Reporters without Borders said the shooting deaths of photographer Saul Suarez Sandoval and radio journalist Jose Luis Leon did not seem to be theft motivated.
The group said Leon was shot dead after leaving his home in the Pacific port city of Guayaquil on Monday. Suarez was killed in the nearby town of Duran on Tuesday after being approached by a car.
Reporters Without Borders urged "authorities to do their utmost to see that light is shed on these two murders." Some information for this report was provided by Reuters.
