Thousands of US Football Fans Ready for 1st Round of World Cup

A solid number of U.S. soccer fans will be in Germany to watch the United States play in the first round of the World Cup.

The U.S. Soccer Federation announced Tuesday it has sold out its allocation of World Cup tickets during its presale. The U.S. federation says it received about 10,000 tickets for the three opening round games. The organization says requests for about 40,000 tickets were made during the presale on its web site from December 12 through January 4. The U.S. federation has asked world football officials for additional tickets.

At the World Cup, the Americans play the Czech Republic on June 12 in Gelsenkirchen, Italy on June 17 in Kaiserslautern, and Ghana on June 22 in Nuremberg.
