Venezuela To Sell Discounted Fuel to Low-income US Families

update

Venezuela has announced it plans to expand the sale of discounted home heating oil to low-income families in the United States.

Venezuelan officials say they will finalize an agreement next week allowing Venezuela's Citgo Petroleum Corporation to start providing heating oil to four American Indian tribes, the Penobscot, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Houlton tribes in the northeastern U.S. state of Maine.

Officials say they will also extend the deal to two other northeastern states, Vermont and Rhode Island. Citgo Petroleum Corporation plans to sell the oil at about 15 to 20 cents per liter (60 to 80 cents per gallon) below the current U.S. market value.

The company has already begun selling discounted fuel in the northeastern states of Massachusetts and New York.
