Bombings in Iraq Kill 22

A day of violence in Iraq killed at least 22 people Friday as tensions between Shi'ites and the Sunni minority continue to simmer.

A suicide bomber set off explosives outside a Shi'ite mosque in Baghdad's Graiaat district, killing 15 and wounding 32.

A car bomb near a Sunni gathering site in the city of Samarra, north of Baghdad, killed seven.

No one has claimed responsibility for either attack.

Iraq has seen some of its worst violence in four years as frustration among the Sunni minority grows.

Many Sunnis say the Shi'ite-led government is ignoring their needs and marginalizing them politically.

The United Nations says the violence in Iraq has killed more than 2,500 people since April.
