Would you like a very tough job? Are you very good at math?

Then you might be interested in an opening at the Independent Statistical Authority of the Hellenic Republic, the formal name for Greece.

An advertisement in the Economist magazine says the job of executive director requires a doctorate, a working knowledge of Greek, and experience running a large organization.

It probably also requires nerves of steel.

The current Greek economic crisis erupted after it was discovered that the nation's economic figures understated the nation's debt.

Athens is trying to fix the debt problem by slashing wages and expenses and boosting tax revenue. The measures are so unpopular that they have prompted demonstrations and strikes.
