Britain plans to reopen its embassy in Iran, two and a half years after protesters angry at new British sanctions stormed and ransacked the site in Tehran.
Foreign Secretary William Hague said in a written statement to parliament Tuesday that some practical issues need to be resolved, but that the "circumstances are right" to reopen the embassy.
He said once arrangements are made, the embassy will have a small initial presence.
Britain closed the embassy in late 2011 and expelled Iran's diplomats from their embassy in London.
The two countries later re-established diplomatic ties, and Iran partially reopened its embassy in February to provide consular services.
