Moment of Silence in Washington State for Mudslide Victims

Crews looking for survivors in the debris of a mudslide north of Seattle, Washington stopped work Saturday for a moment of silence for those killed in the disaster.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee urged all residents across the state to pause to mark the exact moment when a wall of mud and rocks buried dozens of homes near the town of Oso one week ago.

Days of rain have made the search for possible survivors very difficult. Crews say the thick mud is like quicksand.

The official death toll stands at 18 while autopsies will be carried out on seven other bodies pulled from the rubble. Authorities say 30 people are reported missing.
