The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists is a Washington-based global network of more than 100 news media organizations in at least 65 countries that collaborate on in-depth, often cross-border organizations. It was founded in 1997.
Primary editorial focus: polluting industries, transnational crime networks, rogue states, actions of powerful figures in business and government.
Outlets: Shares content with at least 60 major news outlets, worldwide including VOA sister agency Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Principal donors: Include multiple foundations – Adessium, Ford, Fritt Ord, Open Society, David and Lucile Packard, Waterloo – as well as the Pew Charitable Trust, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, the Sigrid Rausing Trust, and Australian philanthropist Graeme Wood.
