Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong underwent a successful surgery for prostate cancer Monday, his office said.

A statement from Lee's office quoted Christopher Chang, the lead urologist at the Singapore General Hospital, as saying he was expected to fully recover.

The 63-year-old prime minister underwent chemotherapy in 1993 for lymphoma, which is now in remission.
