Vice President Joe Biden will deliver an address to Ukraine's parliament next week during a visit to Kyiv, the capital.

Biden's speech Tuesday will focus on the role the U.S. wants Ukrainian legislators to play in moving their country forward.

The Obama administration says it will be the first speech to the parliament by a U.S. leader of Biden's rank.

On Monday, Biden will meet President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

The trip comes as the U.S. tries to keep a focus on resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine, even as world leaders have turned their attention to fighting the Islamic State group.
