Afghan President Hamid Karzai has met with a delegation of U.S. senators in Kabul ahead of his talks with President Barack Obama in Washington.

The delegation was headed by Senator Carl Levin, who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee.

The Afghan president's office says the meeting Saturday focused on a range of issues, including the security pact between the two countries, the peace process in Afghanistan and the future relationship his country will have with the U.S.

President Karzai told the senators that American soldiers should pull out of Afghan villages and into their military bases.

Karzai heads to Washington Monday for talks with President Obama.
