Britain, World Dignitaries Say Goodbye to 'Iron Lady'

The sombre tone of a bell toll announced the arrival of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's funeral procession at St. Paul's Cathedral. A bouquet of yellow carnations centered atop her coffin, draped in the majestic red, white and blue of the Union flag.

Regiment grenadier guards in bright red long coats and their signature bearskin hats lined the gray granite steps of the Cathedral.

Eight young soldiers bore Mrs. Thatcher's coffin on their shoulders from the horse-drawn gun carriage that carried her body through the streets of London. Steadily, they marched across the black and white checkered hallway, stopping briefly beneath a broad golden chandelier, then continuing into the sanctuary as a choir sang the Brahms hymn Ein Deutshes Requiem.

World leaders and dignitaries from 170 countries are attending the Wednesday funeral amid heavy security at St. Paul's Cathedral.
