Baghdad Bombings Kill 13

Iraqi officials say a car bomb blast at a Baghdad bus station has killed at least nine people.

Authorities say another 16 were wounded in the Sunday attack in the Allawi district.

In another Baghdad district, a separate car bomb blast killed at least four civilians and wounded 12.

Last Thursday, a suicide bombing targeting army recruits killed nearly two dozen people in the Iraqi capital.

Violence in Iraq has reached a level not seen since 2008 when the country was emerging from a period of brutal sectarian killings between the country's Sunnis and Shi'ites.

The attacks in Baghdad come as forces of the Shi'ite-led government are in a stand-off with al-Qaida linked militants in mainly Sunni Anbar province, west of the capital.

The Iraqi army has deployed tanks and artillery around the city of Fallujah, threatening an offensive, unless local tribesmen expel the gunmen.
