3 Turkish Soldiers Killed in PKK Attack

Ankara, Turkey
Ankara, Turkey

A car bomb attack in southeast Turkey has killed three soldiers.

The military says 24 soldiers were wounded when the Kurdistan's Workers Party, or PKK, attacked the military post in Lice late Thursday.

Turkey says more than 1,000 militants have been killed in the largely Kurdish southeast since a PKK cease-fire collapsed in July.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said more than 300 members of the security forces have died, while the pro-Kurdish opposition says hundreds of civilians have also been killed.

The PKK is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and European Union.
