About 13 million children across the Middle East and North Africa are not able to attend school due to ongoing violence and political upheaval. For example, UNICEF, the U.N. Children’s Fund, estimates nearly nine thousand schools in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen are no longer in use.
