Suicide Bombing Wounds Three Soldiers in Eastern Afghanistan

TEXT SIZE - +

A suicide bombing has wounded three NATO soldiers in eastern Afghanistan.

NATO's International Security Assistance Force says a suicide car bomb detonated near their convoy in Khost province Thursday.

The number of suicide attacks carried out by Taliban insurgents has increased in recent months.

Separately, a new video released on an Islamist Web site shows the leader of al-Qaida in Afghanistan praising a top commander believed to have been killed by a U.S. missile strike.

In the 12-minute video posted Wednesday, Mustafa Abu al-Yazid referred to the martyrdom of Abu Laith al-Libi and vowed that his followers will continue his fight.

U.S. officials say Libi was killed late last month during a U.S. missile strike on an al-Qaida hideout in Pakistan's tribal region, near the Afghan border.

Libi, a Libyan national, was on a U.S. list of the 12 "most wanted" terrorists and had a bounty on his head.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
