Britain is to upgrade the status of Palestinian diplomats in the country to that of a full diplomatic mission.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Monday the decision puts London on a par with other European countries.

Hague's announcement came the day before Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is due to visit the British capital.

The Palestinian diplomats previously had the status of a delegation.
