The deaths of two Chinese girls are being blamed on poisoned yogurt, part of an apparent plot to boost enrollment at a local kindergarten.
Police in Hebei province tell Chinese state-run media a woman who runs a kindergarten in Pingshan county confessed to the crime. They say she laced the yogurt with rat poison and then asked a man to leave the yogurts, and some notebooks, along a road leading to a rival kindergarten.
Officials say the yogurt and notebooks were then picked up by another woman, who brought the yogurt home and gave it to her granddaughters.
