VOA News
Officials in northern Pakistan say a U.S. drone strike has killed at least nine people suspected of being Taliban fighters.

Authorities say several missiles were fired into three hideouts Sunday in the South Waziristan tribal region.

The Pakistani government has long condemned the drone strikes as a violation of its sovereignty, but the attacks are believed to be carried out with the help of Pakistani intelligence.

Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters.
