Local authorities say a shooting spree in the eastern state of Pennsylvania has left four people dead and three state troopers wounded.

Officials say the shootings occurred over several kilometers in Frankstown Township, about 150 kilometers from the Pennsylvania state capital, Harrisburg. They say the shooter was among those killed and the emergency is over. The shooter shot dead two men and one woman during the melee.

The bloodshed comes one week after a disturbed young man in Newtown, Connecticut, massacred 20 children and seven adults before committing suicide.
