Yasser Arafat's widow says an extensive investigation by French scientists into the former Palestinian leader's death have ruled out poisoning by radioactive polonium.
A report leaked Tuesday says the latest findings from the French team show Arafat died due to a "generalized infection."
The results contradict Swiss scientific revelations in November that a study of Arafat's remains showed "unexpected high activity" of polonium and that Arafat likely did not die of natural causes.
Suha Arafat said she was "shattered" by the contradictory findings, adding that she did not blame anyone for his death.
Scientists from several countries have tried to determine what killed Arafat and whether polonium played a role.
He died in a French military hospital in 2004 at age 75. His body was exhumed last year amid continuing family claims that he was murdered.
Palestinian officials have repeatedly alleged that Arafat was murdered, with some of them pointing the finger at Israel, a charge Israel denies.
Israel said Tuesday it is not surprised by the French reports.
