Swedish police say an international warrant has been issued for WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, on charges of rape and molestation.

A Swedish court earlier this week also issued its own order for Assange's arrest.

The court order, issued Thursday, followed a request from Swedish prosecutor Marianne Ny, who is trying to bring Assange in for questioning in the case.

The accusations center around an encounter between Assange and two women in Sweden in August.

Assange's lawyer says the women have said they had consensual relations with him. Assange says the charges are part of a smear campaign.

The secretive and nomadic Assange has no permanent address.  In October, he was denied a residency permit in Sweden.

Since 2006, Assange's WikiLeaks website has published almost a half-million secret U.S. documents on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Assange angered the Pentagon by revealing the classified documents, which were leaked to the organization.
