Ivory Coast's prime minister says the country's next parliamentary elections will be held no later than December 15 of this year.

The statement by Prime Minister Guillaume Soro Saturday did not specify an exact date for the vote.

The last time members of parliament were elected in Ivory Coast was 10 years ago in an vote boycotted by the Rally of Republicans, then one of Ivory Coast's main opposition parties. The RDR is the party of Alassane Ouattara, who became president earlier this year.

Another key political party says it may boycott the new elections. The potential protest comes from the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI), the party of long-time President Laurent Gbagbo.

Gbagbo was ousted earlier this year after refusing to cede power following his loss in the presidential vote. He has been under house arrest since April 11, after four months of post-election violence. Last month, he was charged with robbery, looting, and embezzling public funds.
