The influential aunt of North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un, whose husband was executed last week, has been appointed to a state funeral committee for a senior official who died on Friday.
The North's official Korean Central News Agency reported Sunday that Kim Kyong Hui, younger sister of Kim Jong Il, was listed among a large group of top party and military officials, indicating that she remains in favor with her powerful nephew.
Mrs. Kim's husband was executed on Thursday, after being found guilty of treason by a special military tribunal. The KCNA said Jang Song Thaek, who was arrested a week ago, faced charges including corruption, plotting to overthrow the state, womanizing, and alcohol and drug abuse.
Some analysts have speculated that people close to Jang Song Thaek might also lose their positions.
