Scores Feared Dead After Boat Sinks Off Nigeria

More than 100 people are feared dead after a boat capsized off the coast of southern Nigeria.

Officials said Wednesday that only two people are known to have survived.

There are conflicting reports on when the incident happened, but the reports agree the boat overturned some 65 kilometers off the Nigerian city of Calabar.

A Nigerian newspaper, the Vanguard, reports that more than 160 people were on board.

A spokesman for Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency says nine bodies have been recovered, and that rescue efforts are continuing.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP.
