Obama Family Volunteers at Local Food Bank

TEXT SIZE - +

US President Barack Obama and members of his family volunteered their service in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday by helping Washington's Capital Area Food Bank, a local food pantry for people in need.

President Obama, his daughters, First Lady Michelle and her mother, Marian Robinson, and her nephew Avery Robinson were on hand at the food pantry to help with packing and distributing food bags for those in need.

Obama exchanged seasonal greetings and small talk with patrons as he handed out packets of carrots.

His daughter Sasha was at his side handing out boxes of sweets.
