Pakistani politician and former cricket superstar Imran Khan got married on Thursday, ending weeks of speculation about whether the famous bachelor would wed for a second time.

Khan married Reham Khan, a former BBC weather reporter who now hosts a talk show on Pakistani television.

Witnesses said only close friends and relatives attended the Islamic ceremony at Imran Khan's home in the capital, Islamabad.

The 62-year-old Imran Khan was previously married to British socialite Jemima Goldsmith and has two sons. Reham Khan, who is 41 years old, has three kids from a previous marriage. The newly married couple are not related.

Imran Khan has openly criticized the government of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Last year, supporters of Khan and another opposition politician, fiery cleric Tahir-ul-Qadri, waged protests calling for Mr. Sharif to step down due to alleged rigging of the 2013 elections that brought him to power.
