Philippine Mayor, Three Others Killed at Manila Airport

Authorities in the Philippine capital said the mayor of a southern town, his wife and two others have been killed in an attack outside a terminal at Manila's international airport. Four others were wounded.

Airport manager Angel Honrado told reporters that two men on a motorcycle fired at Ukol Talumpa, mayor of the town of Labangan in Zamboanga del Sur province. He and his wife were shot dead as they stepped out of the terminal.

Two other people, including a baby, also died in the attack.

Police say the two unidentified assailants escaped. The motive for the attack is not known.

The Philippines is notorious for political violence, particularly at the local and provincial levels. Authorities are investigating the motive for the attack.
