Six Afghan Police Dead in Militant Raid

Afghan officials say six Afghan police officers were killed during a militant raid on a police post in the eastern part of the country.

Officials said militants attacked the post in the Dayak district of Ghazni province Sunday. The raid left one additional police officer wounded.

The French news agency (AFP) quotes two different officials (district police chief Fazul Ahmad Tolwak and local government spokesman Fazul Sabawoon) as saying the militants are believed to have had help from a police insider.

One police officer was reported missing after the attack. The AFP quotes local officials as saying one officer has been detained and is being questioned about links to the attack.

Some information for this report was provided by AP and AFP.
