Adra, Syria
Adra, Syria
Syrian activists say government forces have killed at least 62 rebel fighters in an ambush near Damascus.

The ambush early Wednesday happened in Adra, an area about 35 kilometers from the center of the capital.

State media identified the rebel fighters as "terrorists" who were members of the al-Qaida-linked group Jabhat al-Nusra.

Syrian forces have been on the offensive in recent months in the areas around around Damascus.

More than 100,000 people have been killed since the Syrian conflict began in March 2011.
