It was in Antioch, a city now believed to be in Syria that the believers were first called 'Christians'. It does not matter that the name might change to Antachia or whatever, but since your faith is enduring, you the Syrian Christians will endure. It's our prayers out here that God will strengthen you and your hope will not be lost. Remain steadfast and hold fast the faith, do not shake or waver, the Lord will strengthen you and remove the wild beasts for your survival. However, neither the Rebels nor the government of Assad (or any government whatsoever out there) is to be trusted.

Put all trust in God and ask Him for help, He knows how to save His own from all their troubles. But you may also need to stand up to defend yourselves, as no one living in the midst of wild animals keeps his shepherd's rod far away. That is called self defense. After all Christianity became a minority religion there because those who destroyed it came with force not persuasion. "Wherefore he saith, awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

Because of the fire risk, the state has some of the most experienced firefighters in the industry. It also enlists the help of prisoners to stop the fires. VOA's Elizabeth Lee reports from southern California.
