Tourists Flock to Mexico's Pyramid of the Sun for Spring Celebrations

Visitors flocked to Mexico's Pyramid of the Sun on Thursday to celebrate the spring equinox.

The visitors raised their hands to greet the sun at the huge pyramid in the sacred city of Teotihuacan, located north of Mexico City.

Mexican citizen Margarita Cruz took part in the celebration.

"It's important to receive energy, receive spring and more than anything to thank God, the Almighty, for what he gives us, the miracle of being here, of breathing, of feeling his energy, which fills us with more life in order to continue on the right path. To see ourselves better as human beings, one with the others and not to destroy each other but on the contrary, to pass on our energy to others, positive energy.''

The spring equinox occurs in the middle of March and marks the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere. The southern hemisphere is experiencing the start of the fall season.
