The British embassy says two Britons were among 17 people killed in a suicide attack on a NATO convoy in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

A Taliban suicide bomber rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into an armored NATO bus Saturday, killing five service members, including one Canadian soldier, eight civilian contractors and four Afghans.

Earlier it was reported that 12 of the dead were U.S. troops and employees, but the British Foreign Ministry says NATO now believes two of those killed were British contractors.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Some information for this report was provided by AP, AFP and Reuters.
