US Pop Star Eydie Gorme Dies at 84

American popular music star Eydie Gorme, whose 60-year partnership with husband Steve Lawrence made them top nightclub and TV stars, has died at age 84.

Gorme began her career as a big band singer shortly after high school and teamed up with Lawrence when they were both stars on television's popular Tonight show.

Known simply as Steve and Eydie, the two were a staple of nightclubs, records and television, pleasing millions of fans young and old with popular songs and chatter.

Gorme also had a thriving solo career, which included the 1963 smash-hit Blame It ion the Bossa Nova, and her own Spanish language Voice of America radio series A Date with Eydie.
