U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is in Russia for two days of talks aimed at improving U.S.-Russian relations.

Biden arrived Tuesday evening following a stop in Helsinki, Finland, as part of a three-nation European tour.

On Wednesday, Biden is scheduled to meet with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev before talks with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

The talks, aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries, will focus on European missile defense and Russia's membership in the World Trade Organization.

During his visit, Biden will meet with business leaders at Skolkovo, a site outside Moscow where the Kremlin plans to build a technology hub. He is expected to preside over the signing of a deal between U.S. airplane manufacturer Boeing and Russia's Aeroflot.

Biden departs Moscow on Friday and will make a brief visit to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, before heading back to Washington.
