British PM makes plea after Cabinet Secretary Gus O'Donnell refused to declassify Mr. Blair's letters to then US President George W. Bush

British Prime Minister David Cameron is appealing to the public to pressure his predecessor, Tony Blair, to release secret documents from the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Mr. Cameron made the plea after Cabinet Secretary Gus O'Donnell refused to declassify Mr. Blair's letters to then U.S. President George W. Bush, saying doing so is not in the public's best interest.

Mr. Cameron said Mr. Blair should drop his demand for secrecy when he testifies before the Iraq Inquiry on Friday.

On Wednesday, the inquiry released evidence that a former Blair secretary created different accounts of conversations between Mr. Blair and Mr. Bush to conceal the content of the actual discussions.
