The new owners of English Premier League football team Blackburn Rovers have confirmed they have made an offer of nearly $33 million to sign Brazilian star Ronaldinho for three years.

The announcement by the Indian-owned Venky's Group came just one day after they had denied their interest in signing the Brazilian player, who is currently with Italian club AC Milan.

Group chairperson Anuradha Desai said Tuesday that the 30-year-old Ronaldinho "is keen to play in the English Premier League" and believes that fact will work in their favor. Speculation has been running high on where Ronaldinho will end up when his contract at San Siro expires in six months.

Blackburn manager Steve Kean welcomed the news, saying that any Premier League manager would be interested in signing someone who has twice been named the World Player of the Year.

Desai also revealed that the Rovers were interested in signing England striker David Beckham on loan from American Major League Soccer club, the Los Angeles Galaxy.
