U.S. officials say there is no doubt that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons against its own people. The Obama administration is considering a response to what it calls a blatant violation of international laws by Damascus. Opponents of President Bashar al-Assad support a comprehensive attack on his forces and his removal from power.
