But the Sonoran Desert, which spans the southwest United States and northwest Mexico, is teeming with plants and animals that thrive in dry conditions. The Sonora Desert Museum gives visitors a peak at this lushness hidden all around them. Shelley Schlender has more from Tucson, Arizona.
