At Brooklyn 'Free School,' Students Control Their Education

The democratic or “free school” movement, in which children have an equal say in school governance, and choose how to spend their days - whether in study or play - began more than 100 years ago. Today, there are several hundred such private schools scattered around the world, in countries as different as South Korea, Japan, India, Germany, Brazil and Colombia. By far, most are in the U.S. VOA's Carolyn Weaver visited the 11-year-old private Brooklyn Free School in New York.
