    Residents of the U.S. East Coast are preparing for a major snowstorm expected to begin Friday afternoon and continue until early Sunday. Heavy snow is expected in at least 15 states, with perhaps historical blizzard conditions in Washington, Baltimore and New York City metro areas. Weather officials forecast between 30 and 90 centimeters of snow. Zlatica Hoke reports apprehension is especially high in large cities, where even a smattering of snow can cause chaos.
