US Debate Over Right-to-Die Continues After Highly Publicized Case

Three American states - Oregon, Washington and Vermont - have laws allowing doctors to provide medication to terminally ill patients who choose to end their own lives. Such was the case with 29-year old Brittany Maynard, in Oregon, who took a lethal dose of barbiturates on November 1. Before her death, Maynard launched a public campaign to raise awareness about the Death With Dignity law, but as VOA’s Julie Taboh reports, the right-to-die issue is still controversial.
