Burma's Aung San Suu Kyi Released from House Arrest
Burma's military government releases democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest after her current term of detention expired. Her release comes days after a military-backed party claimed to win Burma's first elections in two decades. The 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate has spent 15 of the past 21 years under detention.
