Law enforcement authorities in Washington briefly ordered a lockdown on the U.S. Capitol building and its visitor center Friday morning, following reports of a suspicious individual.

Media reports said one person was seen carrying a firearm, which civilians are not permitted to carry on Capitol grounds.

Police barred people from entering the building, but later indicated there was no threat and lifted the lockdown.
