Officials in northwest Pakistan say a suicide bomber targeting a police armored personnel carrier has killed seven people and wounded at least 28 others.
Authorities say the explosion took place Friday in Sarban, near Peshawar, close to the lawless tribal areas that are a haven for Taliban and al-Qaida militants.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
The blast comes amid faltering peace talks between the Pakistani government and Taliban militants.
The talks have been marred by repeated militant attacks reaching from the northwest to the capital, Islamabad, and Karachi in the south. The military has responded by sending fighter planes and helicopter gunships to pound militant hideouts.
