Spain and Italy have been selected to host the 2007 European basketball championships.
Meeting in the Estonian capital Tallin, the sport's governing body FIBA Europe said Monday that Spain would host the men's 2007 Eurobasket tournament and Italy would host the women's competition. The men's tournament in Spain will feature games in Alicante, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Granada.
FIBA Europe also looked ahead to future championships. It announced Poland would host the men's tournament in 2009 followed by Lithuania in 2011. The European basketball championships are held every two years.
Serbia and Montenegro will host in the 2005 European basketball championships in Belgrade from September 16 through the 25. The women's tournament will run from September second through the 11.
